Inspired to start this up from an old post on AQ Connect. Someone suggest a word, usually a common, overused one, and then you see how many times you have it in your manuscript. It's a good way to cut down on extraneous words or find out where your word choice could use sprucing up.

Since I decided to post this because I was editing an old chapter from an old MS and found way too many dialogue tags of "told him/her", let's see how many times we use "told" (or "tell").

In my main MS that I'm currently querying: 31

In the old MS I was just editing: 272

(Yikes. Definitely want to cut down that latter, and do a thorough examination of the former.)
