Hi everyone! I'm thrilled to be participating in the Query Critique giveaway. My winner will be chosen during week 1 of the contest, so cheers to those submitting early :0)
I've been a professional freelance editor since 2009, when I completed my MA in English and Am Lit at NYU. I mostly work in adult and YA fiction, though I make the occasional foray into NF. I run The Work Conference, an annual, weekend-long writers' conference in NYC, and The Work Retreat, an annual workshop weekend in Massachusetts led by pub-house editors and agents. I also run the #firstlinefrenzy hashtag on Twitter -- a monthly event when authors tweet me the first line of their novel, and I provide live, fun, educational critiques and advice. I'm an obsessive reader and audiobook listener (talk to me about your faves!), with a particular penchant for romance, lit fic, nuanced fantasy and smart YA. All of this is to say: books are a huge part of my life, and I can't wait to help you with yours.
Time to go look at some queries!
Welcome Rebacca! We're so excited to have you participating in our first event!
Have you heard of the Casey Duncan/Rockton series by Kelley Armstrong? The first book is City of the Lost. They are great. I have listened to the audiobooks and the narration is also fabulous.
I actually recommend anything by Kelley. She's a great writer.
