Hi everyone--if it isn't too late (I can't believe it's #PitMad time again!) I'd appreciate some feedback on my pitches. At this point all I can do myself is over-tinker. So if anyone is willing to give them a once-over with fresh eyes, I'd be more than happy to return the favor.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
Pitch 1:
Thursday Next x Guy Noir
Writer-turned-PI Joe studies clients as characters and cases as narratives. But when time travel wrecks his 3-act, he must confront his own character to rescue a reality TV judge, forgive himself, and save humanity from eating its tail.
Pitch 2: Dahlia Moss x Dirk Gently
PI Joe wants to escape a shameful present by retiring to the far past. Finding a missing Judge who re-tries historical figures as reality TV may be his ticket. But to learn whodunit, he must resist the urge to change his own past.
Pitch 3:
MC, a PI, would rather retire to the past than live in a present that uses #TT to re-try historical figures as trash TV. To afford the trip, he must find a missing TV judge. But to learn whodunit, he must face his sins in the present, not run from them in the past.
This is a cool concept. I like the second and third the most. I think they can be combined to tell a fuller story. Something like this:
PI Joe wants to escape a shameful present by retiring to the far past. To afford the trip, he must find a missing TV judge who re-tries historical figures on trash TV. In order to prove whodunnit, he must first resist the urge to change his own past.

Good luck tomorrow!
LOL. I tied myself in a pretzel tracing the ironies, J.D. So I'm an unreliable reviewer regarding the substance of the story. That said, I think No. 2 provides the best sense of the story, followed by No. 3. Have you considered Time Quake by Kurt Vonnegut as a comp?
