My first question would be what will you be using this elevator for? Will you be pitching face-to-face with agents, will you be using it as back-cover material or will it be for some kind of internet/webpage use. In the case of the first, make sure to keep it colloquial, bullet-pointed, short, and easy to remember. In the second two instances, I think you can do the same, but pretty up the language a bit. With that, let's do a little playing to make it a bit more "catchy" because regardless of the content (which is awesome BTW!) most NF pubs are going to want some kind of unique hook. (Are you an oncology nurse? What kind of caregiver? What is your "experience?") (I have lots of experience here, as I worked for a NF pub that did a lot of cookbooks... We always looked mostly at platform, hook, and content in that order. And all three had to be well thought out and presented.)
OK. Let's look at that pitch! I'm going to assume you're going to use this as a verbal pitch. In any case, you have too much extraneous information. We don't need to know that you've written other books unless they've been published, or when this MS was completed, or your schooling unless it has a direct impact on the hook or platform of the book. Below you'll find a few notes. I would also caution you. The phrase "for a Cure" may be copyrighted. It's something that agents and publishers are going to look at during even the pitch phase... Have you done your homework in the advocacy community? If someone ends up interested, they're going to look it up and it may make or break a deal...
